Video 6.7: Mitral valve prolapse with mitral regurgitation in an adolescent with Marfan syndrome. The prolapsing anterior leaflet prevents formation of a complete PISA hemisphere which complicates calculation of the mitral regurgitant volume by PISA. Although there are calculations that theoretically can correct for these factors, these are cumbersome, can be inaccurate and are not routinely used in pediatric laboratories. Note the eccentric posteriorly directed jet.
